The star of films “Juno” and “X-Men: Days of Future Past” and television shows like “The Umbrella Academy,” Ellen Page has come out as transgender and has changed his name to Elliot Page.
Page made the announcement Tuesday on social media, saying, “I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self.”
Page said he uses he/him and they/them pronouns and said that he is transgender and non-binary, Variety reported.
Page’s wife, Emma Portner, supported her spouse, saying “Elliot’s existence is a gift in and of itself. Shine on sweet E. Love you so much,” E! News reported.
He also got support from Nick Adams, director of transgender media for GLAAD, who said, “Elliot Page has given us fantastic characters on-screen, and has been an outspoken advocate for all LGBTQ people. He will now be an inspiration to countless trans and non-binary people. All transgender people deserve the chance to be ourselves and to be accepted for who we are. We celebrate the remarkable Elliott Page today,” Variety reported.
