Waziri is the secretary-general of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities.
The papyrus was taken to a museum for study, but it is believed to be similar to the Book of the Gates and the Book of the Dead, Egyptian funerary texts.
A temporary exhibit has been set up near the Step Pyramid of Djoser, The Associated Press reported. The artifacts will be taken to the Grand Egyptian Museum eventually.
The 150 bronze statues depict Egyptian gods and instruments for various rituals, all dating back to the Late Period of ancient Egypt, which was about 500 B.C.
Recent finds in Egypt have brought new understanding of the dynasties that ruled Egypt. Some of those discoveries were two mummies with golden tongues that would allow them to “speak in the afterlife” and a 5,000-year-old brewery, the Post reported.
