73-year-old man admits to killing wife, living with body for week, troopers say

WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. — A 73-year-old man from Pennsylvania has been charged with killing his wife then living with her body for a week.

Shane Del Montjar admitted to killing his wife, Sandra Montjar, on Oct. 13, shooting her twice in the back, WPXI reported.

State police were requested to perform a welfare check on Sandra Montjar on Oct. 20.

When state troopers arrived at their Cook Township home, Shane Del Montjar, allegedly admitted to killing his wife, then led them to her remains which were wrapped in a blanket, plastic bag and carpet, WPXI’s news partner TribLIVE reported.

Shane Del Montjar told troopers his wife had a medical condition, telling them he killed her to “alleviate her pain,” the newspaper reported.

He said he didn’t tell anyone about her death so he could “get his affairs in order,” TribLIVE reported.

Montjar faces charges of abuse of a corpse, criminal homicide, first degree murder and tampering with evidence, WPXI reported.
