12 Strays of Christmas 2024: Butter & Luna Luna is an almost two year old, black and white medium haired boy who is bonded to his best friend and sister Butter, a medium haired orange and white kitty! They came to us as kittens, were adopted, and returned after their owner could no longer care for them. These two are the best of friends - they sleep together, groom one another, play and wrestle together like true siblings! They are young adults, so they still love a good play session. But after the play, comes the snuggles. Butter and Luna crave human affection and would be a great addition to just about any household. These built in best friends will fill your home with love, just in time for the holidays!
12 Strays of Christmas 2024: Mango Meet Mango, a young, energetic bundle of joy who is overflowing with sweetness and friendliness. With her smart, playful nature, Mango brings an infectious, goofy energy to every room she enters. Her curiosity makes every day an adventure, and she’s always up for fun. Mango is housetrained and has a special fondness for older kids, making her an ideal companion for a family.While Mango enjoys playing with other dogs, she can be selective about her canine friends, so a meet-and-greet with any potential dog siblings is recommended. With a slow introduction, she gets along well with other dogs and is eager to learn from a more tolerant dog sibling.
12 Strays of Christmas 2024: Leonard Leonard is a 6 month old kitty who has been with us since he was a young kitten! This handsome young boy was very shy when he first came to us, but with some socialization, has blossomed into an affectionate kitty who is ready for his forever home. Leonard has the softest coat you'll ever feel, and this guy absolutely loves to be pet. He will roll over for belly rubs and always wants to be by a human's side. He also gets along great with other cats! Leonard has been waiting so patiently to find his new best friend, are you the one?
12 Strays of Christmas: Willett Meet Willett, a senior canine with a heart full of love and a sweet, gentle soul. Willett radiates warmth and affection, making her a wonderful companion. Independent and mellow, she enjoys her own company and is a low-maintenance pet. Whether it’s relaxing on a quiet evening or snuggling up on the couch, Willett is always ready to be the perfect cuddle buddy. Housetrained and well-versed in home etiquette, Willett is comfortable in a peaceful household. She thrives in an adult-only home and is best suited as the only pet, with no cats or dogs in her new family.
Furkids is a nonprofit charitable organization that operates the largest cage-free, no-kill shelter in the Southeast for rescued cats, and Sadie’s Place, a no-kill shelter for dogs. They also operate one of the only facilities in the Southeast dedicated to the care of FIV positive cats. The Furkids mission is to rescue homeless animals, provide them with the best medical care and nurturing environment, while working to find them a forever home. They heal the whole animal, physically and emotionally, restoring its health and its spirit.
Since its founding in 2002, Furkids has rescued and altered more than 60,000 animals since its founding in 2002. Approximately 900 animals are in the Furkids program today in the Furkids shelters, 10 PetSmart and Petco adoption centers, and more than 400 foster homes in the Atlanta area.
Want to volunteer with Furkids? Their volunteer programs are designed to restore the health and spirits of injured and homeless animals while providing healing opportunities for volunteers who are strengthened by the bond of love and care between humans and animals. Furkids is the only animal rescue organization in metro Atlanta that allows children of all ages to volunteer.
Stop by for some holiday cheer at the Furkids Holiday Open House at the FurKids headquarters (5235 Union Hill Road in Cumming, GA) on Friday, December 6th from 4:30-8:30PM and enjoy our winter wonderland, mingle with the animals, snack on hors d’euvres, beer, & wine, and learn about all that’s happening at Furkids.
