Chris Miller: May 2008 Archives
It happened Thursday in Stockholm, Sweden: US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met up with the members of Kiss.
Secretary Rice said she was "thrilled" to meet the band.
Do you think the meeting ... went something like this?
Steven Tyler, frontman for Aerosmith, has been totally public about getting clean and sober over twenty years ago.
So why did he end up back in rehab lately?
Turns out he had to have some surgery on his feet. That surgery ... and healing from it, too ... ended up being far more painful than Steven originally thought it would be. So, to give himself the healthy space and time to heal, he checked himself into rehab.
I can understand that. I quit drugging and drinking ten years ago, and while I don't ever think seriously about smoking weed anymore, the 12-step environment is still one of the safest, most accepting places I know.

Here's a list I found on Yahoo!'s music site about the most rockin' guitar riffs ever! Some of them are classic hits, some aren't ... but it's an interesting list.
In addition, here's a collection of what the same guy lists as his choices for the 25 best "Best Of" CDs.
What would YOU add to either of these lists?

David Bowie has always been careful about his public persona or character ... but here he is in a more unguarded moment, rehearsing "Changes" for a 1976 appearance.
Happy Memorial Day weekend!
Did you know that Memorial Day used to be called "Decoration Day," and that it was the day to honor the dead from the Civil War? Read the history of Memorial Day here.
There's lots of fun stuff to do over the long, 3-day weekend, but if you want to honor what Memorial Day is all about ... check this out.
Or ... if you just want to do something fun, here's a quick link to our Event Guide!
It's Paul McCartney!
Theu asked this question ... who is the most irritating pop star ... in a survey over in the UK, and Sir Paul topped the list. They say it's because of the non-stop tawdry headlines stemming from his divorce from Heather Mills.
What do YOU think ... who is YOUR most irritating singer or musical group?
Here on Lexie Kaye's page, she talks about Don Felder's book about the Eagles. It's supposed to be interesting and extra-juicy 'cause Don was a member of The Eagles for a while.
Although the book has been out in the UK for a while, legal issues kept it from being published here in the US. This week, that changes. British readers have had some interesting things to say about the book, which you can read here!
Russia's third elected president, Dmitri Medvedev, was sworn into office today, replacing Vladimir Putin.
Why are we talking about this on a Classic Hits station in Atlanta, GA? 'Cause he's a Led Zeppelin fan.
Led Zeppelin and other western rock bands were banned in the old Soviet Union.
SO ... Russia is freely electing its leaders, who are fans of bans that Russians didn't used to be able to hear? You know what this means for those of us in the Western world?
Have you seen it yet? The Rolling Stones documentary, "Shine A Light," is still playing in town. We have the most up-to-date movie showtimes here 971theriver.com, and you can find out when and where to see this movie here.
I have not seen it yet ... if you have, leave a comment and let me know what you thought ... thanks!
As we were playing "Ready for Love" by Bad Company today, I realized most people don't have a clear mental picture of what Bad Company looked like. So I found this live performance video of the group doing "Ready For Love" on YouTube.
It looks to me like it's a clip from "Don Kirschner's Rock Concert." Remember that show? It was on late night TV once or twice a week during the 70s. What I remember about that show was that it started at 11:30pm and ended at 1am ... and by the end of it, I was usually less sober or less dressed than I was when the show started ....
