Phil Collins says he's retiring from the music biz.
Couple of thoughts ...
- are you a Phil Collins fan?
- how big an impact on classic hits has he had?
- do you think he'll ever change his mind and perform or record again?
Is it OK for the producers of a movie promoting creationism to use John Lennon's tune, "Imagine," without permission? That's what John's widow, Yoko Ono, says happened ... and she says she's been taking the heat for allowing that song to be used ... when she didn't! Read about it here.
Meanwhile, Yoko is trying to keep us from seeing some home video ... where John was joking about putting LSD in President Nixon's tea!!
What do you think ... should we be able to see John Lennon on video threatening to spike the president's drink?
Stephen Stills, who'll be coming through Atlanta this August with Crosby, Stills and Nash, not only has had a health scare recently with prostate cancer ... he's also the father of an 11-year-old boy with Asperger's Syndrome, a form of autism. Here's a quick article about what it's like being the father of a kid with Asperger's.
When you see famous people dealing with challenges like this, does it make them seem more human and real?
Van Halen went on tour with David Lee Roth for the first time in a couple of decades starting last year, the reviews were ... to be charitable here ... mixed. Band members looked unsteady, equipment failures were frequent, and they brought little glory on themselves. One date here in Atlanta had to be rescheduled ... twice.
Now, it sounds like they've come back in a big way ... read about it here, and again here... and we'll look forward to seeing them May 11th at The Arena At Gwinnett Center in Duluth.
One of the most successful bands of the 90s grunge era, Stone Temple Pilots, decided to reunite so they could offer their services as the opening band on a possible Led Zeppelin tour.
Although, so far, odds are we won't see the surviving Zep members touring anytime soon, this shows the power of the Led Zeppelin name!
If Zeppelin DID tour, who would YOU like to see open for them?
Don't we all have a singer ... or a song ... that just irritates the crap out of us?
Every now and then you find lists like this ... here's a list of someone's opinion of the most annoying singers ever ... and also the fifty worst songs.
Which singer ... and which song got left off the list? Which singers or songs are just fingernails on the chalkboard for YOU?

Elton John held a big fundraising concert for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Now, it turns out that maybe he shouldn't have done that ... read about it here!
What do you think ... should people who aren't US citizens be able to make contributions to determine who is elected President of the USA?

Just days before Bruce Springsteen's concert this Friday at Philips Arena ... we're sure he's feeling the loss of his keyboardist, Danny Federici, who lost his battle with cancer late last week. We know you join us in expressing your condolences to Danny's immediate family and his E Street musical family, too.
What are you memories of seeing Danny Federici with Springsteen in concert? Does this make you want to see Bruce's show this week more ... less ... or the same as you already did?

You may have heard about this through your kids' school. It's the annual "TV Turn-off Week."
They want you to turn off the TV for a week, and do something more memorable. Naturally, we'd like you to turn on 97.1 The River while you turn off the TV!
So is this something you do? Do you watch any less TV this week, or is it viewing full-speed-ahead? I think about it every year, but usually end up with the tube on just as much as I normally do.
