Wow! Sorry I haven't updated sooner. I was not feeling well Friday and Saturday, then realized there's something wrong with my router at home so can't blog from there until I figure that one out!

A lot has happened since I updated you before my oncologist check up. I'll tell you about it all over the next few days.

Thursday I asked my doc when he expected my hair to start falling out. He thought after my second round of chemo (this Friday.) The ladies at the wonderful "A Woman's Place" at Northside Hospital told me it would happen by last Friday (when my appointment was to have my wig fitted.) Well, Friday morning arrived and when I woke up I checked my pillow carefully to see if there was any hair on it -- not a strand! So I decided there was no way I was going to let Vikki and Beth at "A Woman's Place" cut my hair to 1/4 inch, especially since my doc told me that "I don't want to get your hopes up at all, but in very rare instances the hair doesn't all come out." So I set out to my appointment at Northside Hospital with my Chemo Sabes Susan and niece Amanda. Vikki and Beth said it wasn't a problem that my hair wasn't coming out yet -- we wouldn't be able to fit the wig, though -- couldn't fit it properly with my hair under it. So I asked them what I could expect when my hair does start falling out. Beth started telling me while running her fingers through my hair as I sat in the salon chair looking at her behind me in the mirror, then she stopped and said, "Oh, Kaedy," in a way that made me freeze. There, in her fingers, were about a dozen strands of my hair. Then she said, "It's happening..." So, disbelieving, I ran my fingers through my hair on the other side of my head -- same result! I couldn't believe it! I looked at the ladies and said, "Just take it off!" And, just like that, they did. Vikki put on her apron that looked like the kind of apron a Medical Examiner would wear -- I jokingly asked her if she was planning to bludgeon me -- she revved up the clippers, and gently clipped my hair to 1/4 inch all over my head. It was "G.I. Jane"-style except I look like a little boy, not Demi. Even though I was okay, when asked if I wanted to, I wasn't feeling frisky enough to have her shave a mowhawk for fun. Of course, the girls all said the right things to make me feel good about how my eyes now "pop" with hardly any hair on my head to distract people from looking at my eyes (LOL!) -- like having a head with no hair wouldn't distract from my eyes! I was surprised I didn't have as much gray as I thought I would. Then Vikki and Beth worked with the wig on and off my head. It's really beautiful, and we decided to leave the hair a little longer and more classicly styled so we have some room to change it if I want to later. Vikki showed us some cool bald-head accessories I modeled -- we picked out a few that were kind of fun that I'll tell you about later.

Amanda and I have named my wig Bridgette for Bridgette Bardot -- it has a life of its own...
