Over the first hump?

Wednesday, Hump-day, and I'm feeling alright! The doc said I could expect the effects of chemo to kick in between 2 and 5 days after my treatment. Today is Day 5 and, aside from being tired and itchy, I'm happy to say I'm A-okay. I'm told to be especially careful about contact with germs Days 10 - 14 as that's when my white blood cell count will be at it's lowest and I'll be very susceptible to infection. My chemo routine is a walk in the park compared to some. I'm taking Cyclophosphamide and Docetaxel (the one I had the allergic reaction to,) and have been lucky to avoid a bad-ass one that can really take its toll on your heart. I'll have 4 rounds of chemo every three weeks. I'm purposely scheduling it on Fridays so I can have a couple of days to recover before I go back to work on Monday. I love, love, LOVE my job, so I couldn't be happier that I'm able to work!

What others are saying

  • You're amazing!
    Kaedy,
When I first found out I had Breast Cancer I totally fell apart. I continued to work like you are doing but up through the surgery until I was in radiation treatment I was going around like I was already dead. I finally got over it once I realized that it was something that I could handle. Radiation is nothing compared to Chemo. I see now that I was a big baby compared to you.

You have totally amazed me with your positive attitude, bravery, and constant sense of humor over your illness. I bet everyone that is close to you is so proud of you. Also, by doing this blog and telling everyone about how it is you are helping so many others to hopefully put it in perspective. Hang in there, you're great!

By the way I am totally anti blog and this is my very first!
    Love,
    Sharon H.
  • Bailey's Mom's Dad
Would you let me know how your Dad is doing when you find out next month, please? I'll keep him in my prayers -- thank you for yours!
    Love,
    Kaedy
  • God Bless You!
KK, you are in our prayers! My father was diagnosed with bladder cancer just before Christmas. He has gone through 8 rounds of chemo and we hope that that took care of it. We will know next month. God Bless You!
