U2: Tour Announced

U-2
announced the dates for their first stadium dates since their 2005-2006 Vertigo Tour at 8 a-m this morning, Dublin time, on U2-dot-com. The U-2 360° Tour will kick off at the Nou Camp Stadium in Barcelona, Spain on June 30th, the first of 14 European stops that will end in Cardiff, Wales on August 22nd. The 15 city North American leg gets underway at Chicago's Soldier Field on September 12th and ends in Vancouver, Canada on October 28th. The tour is being sponsored by BlackBerry. It takes its name from its 360 degree staging design -- created by U-2's long time show director Willie Williams with architect Mark Fisher -- which affords the audience an unobstructed view of the band. Glasvegas, Elbow, Kaiser Chiefs, Snow Patrol and Black Eyed Peas have thus far been announced as support acts for the tour, with more to be named. No schedule for where the openers will play has been posted.

According to U-2's manager,

Paul McGuinness, 85 percent of the tickets will be priced at less than 95-dollars, general admission floor tickets will sell for 55-dollars and at least 10-thousand tickets at every venue are in the 30-dollar price range. "We have worked very hard to ensure that U-2 fans can purchase a great priced ticket with a guaranteed great view," he says.
